Start where you are

When you begin to move towards obedience to the great commission and the commandment to love your neighbor by sharing the gospel, it's easy to feel overwhelmed. Especially if you’re attempting to do it in your own strength. Take a step back. Seek the Lord’s face. Start where you are. And remember that you’re not doing this on your own. Who do you know, where do you go? Christina walks us through a tool that can embolden us as we begin those spiritual conversations with our neighbors. Let's lean in.

"I have been given all authority in heaven and on earth. Therefore, go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit. Teach these new disciples to obey all the commands I have given you. And be sure of this: I am with you always, even to the end of the age.” Matthew 28:18-20 (NLT)

"Do you have a story like that?"

There is power in that one, small phrase. Share your story, point to Jesus, and then invite your neighbor to share their own story. Listen for their heart. Ask the Holy Spirit to lead you. Then be prepared to share God's story.

Whether you're walking through this study individually or as a group, take a moment to process by asking yourself these questions:

  • Use the guide above to sketch out your 15-second testimony.
  • Practice sharing your testimony with someone in your small group, a friend, or someone in your family. Ask them to provide feedback - does the story point people to Jesus, or focus more on yourself?
  • Write down the name of someone you plan to share your 15-second testimony with.

Love God, and love your neighbor.

Apartment Life believes that a community can be radically transformed when people intentionally invest in the lives of neighbors and build authentic relationships through service.

It's that simple.

We partner with an apartment community’s management team to deliver the Apartment Life program. We  have the opportunity to  build community and serve residents by doing things that flow naturally out of the Christian lifestyle — welcoming new neighbors, planning social functions, and caring in times of need.

Together we can change the lives of people living in apartment communities, and one person at a time, we can change the world.
